Forge Talent are currently recruiting a commercially focused Financial Controller to take ownership of the UK finance function for a Global Events Management Company. This is a high-impact leadership role that goes beyond the numbers, you will be responsible for driving financial performance, embedding strong governance, and delivering strategic insights that shape decision-making at every level. Acting as a key business partner, you will ensure finance is not just a support function, but a true enabler of growth, efficiency, and value creation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a high-performing UK finance team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and month-end close, ensuring accuracy, speed, and efficiency across all processes.
  • Deliver high-quality management accounts, forecasts, and variance analysis, providing actionable insights that influence strategic and commercial decisions.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles, challenging assumptions and supporting the delivery of long-term growth ambitions.
  • Optimise cash flow, working capital, and liquidity, ensuring financial resilience and supporting investment opportunities.
  • Embed robust financial controls, ensure full statutory compliance, and manage all tax, audit, and regulatory obligations with excellence.
  • Work closely with operational leaders to translate financial data into meaningful actions, supporting performance improvement and profitability.
  • Champion innovation within finance, driving automation, process optimisation, and system enhancements to unlock efficiency and insight.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, while managing strong external relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Align UK finance processes with international teams, ensuring best practice and consistency across the wider group.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with 5+ years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Proven track record in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role.
  • Deep technical knowledge of UK GAAP, statutory reporting, and tax regulations.
  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Analytical, forward-thinking, and solutions-oriented.
