Financial Planning and Analysis Business Partner

Equans is looking for a Financial Planning and Analysis Business Partner to join our team on a permanent basis. This is a full‑time role (37.5 hours per week) with a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

Overview

The role holder will support the Divisional Controller of Sustainable FM with reporting activities covering all business divisions of Sustainable FM, representing over £1bn of revenue and preparing reports for the Division to UK and Group. The role will work closely with the UK FP&A team, Divisional Finance Director, Sector Finance Directors and Senior Finance Business Partners to optimise planning processes, analyse performance and challenge the business. The position can be based from any Equans site with travel to Newcastle and London.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare high‑quality monthly management reports for the Division and sectors, providing senior management with visibility on budget achievement, cash flow, overheads, and variance review.
  • Pro‑actively analyse the Division’s financial performance (P&L, B/S, cash flow) and provide analysis for operational and strategic decisions.
  • Use data from multiple sources to analyse key themes and identify impacts on the business.
  • Challenge business unit performance during month‑end and planning processes.
  • Define, communicate and track key performance indicators in line with the budget framework.
  • Support the Divisional Controller with interactions between the Division and UK FP&A team, ensuring accurate results and meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Anticipate needs and respond to requests effectively and timely.
  • Implement and optimise controlling and reporting processes between Division and UK.
  • Support the controller in planning and forecasting activities (Medium‑Term Plan, budget, best estimates).
  • Drive efficient planning and forecasting, providing senior management with visibility on budget achievement, risks, opportunities, contingency management and PPA impact.

Who we’re looking for

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Good working knowledge of accounting systems (e.g., SAP) and data extraction.
  • Solid history of success in FP&A, accounting, reporting or controlling.
  • Record of delivering quality performance under tight deadlines.
  • Proven record of finance process improvement.
  • Strong business knowledge, financial and management accounting techniques.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Handles complexity, prioritises issues, sees connections in data and trends.
  • Analytical and pragmatic problem solving.
