Join to apply for the Financial Services Regulatory Associate role at Walker Morris LLP.

Overview

Our highly regarded and award-winning financial services regulatory team is looking for an experienced associate to help support and grow our non-contentious financial services offering. You'll be joining a high performing and ambitious team providing market-leading and specialist legal advice to a range of financial services clients, including those offering consumer, motor, asset and mortgage finance, as well as savings, insurance and other regulated retail products. We act for many household names across our core sectors. You’ll be given a strong support network, work alongside market-leading lawyers, have great learning opportunities and a genuine freedom for you to thrive and reach your potential.

What you’ll be doing as a Financial Services Regulatory Associate

  • Handle a variety of financial services matters for household names, including national and international clients.
  • Support our team’s non-contentious work from advising on the regulator perimeter, preparing applications for permissions and policies and procedures, reviewing and drafting contractual and other statutory documentation, advising on remediation issues and interactions with the Financial Conduct Authority and the Financial Ombudsman Service.
  • Take responsibility from the outset with support where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the team who work on contentious financial services matters and benefit from a mixed experience in drafting lending documentation and defending claims against lenders.

What we are looking for

  • A strong understanding of the FCA regime
  • Experience advising regulated products, ideally with a focus on consumer finance and (ideally) payment services
  • A non-contentious lawyer with experience of advising on non-contentious technical issues
  • A technically proficient and ambitious lawyer
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex analysis in a clear and accessible way
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Self-motivated with the desire to develop strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Sound legal analysis, client management and drafting skills, with strong attention to detail

Benefits

  • Salary reflective of your experience.
  • Earn up to 35% of your salary with our annual bonus scheme.
  • Minimum of 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays per year increasing to 31 days with length of service, with the opportunity to buy/sell up to 5 days holiday per year.
  • Auto enrolled into the workplace pension scheme, with a minimum of 5% employer contribution.
  • 4x annual salary life assurance.
  • Hybrid and flexible working for most roles with 40-60% of time in the office; discuss your preferences with the recruitment team.
  • Access to BUPA with no excess or compulsory payments.
