Allianz UK is embarking on a journey to achieve excellence in its management of risk and is investing in first‑line risk management, governance and controls across the first line. This is a great opportunity to join an established team to support and enhance the way in which risks are managed within the Personal Lines business area.

Location

Flexible location including London, Bournemouth, Guildford.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £44,000 per year. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

  • Play a proactive role in conducting comprehensive risk management activities. This includes performing risk control assessments, evaluating top risks, and carrying out control testing.
  • Engage with the business SMEs and risk owners to encourage the challenging of established risk processes, controls, approaches and thinking.
  • Proactively provide risk advice and support to management.
  • Raise awareness of risks within the business, recommending and taking forward measures to either remove, mitigate or accept those risks.
  • Support the development and embedding of risk appetite through the business functions.
  • Drive development and embedding of KRIs and other relevant risk measures.
  • Provide impactful, evidence‑based and structured risk/controls insight to senior management and management forums.
  • Support the development of effective governance, including through reporting and management committees.
  • Support delivery of cross‑functional risk initiatives.
  • Support the business SMEs and risk owners through effective business partnering to ensure risks and controls are considered in change activity.
  • Work collaboratively and in alignment with other First Line risk functions.
  • Develop and maintain own risk management capabilities and understanding.
  • Advocate the role of the First Line Risk and Controls team to the First, Second and Third Line stakeholders and act as a trusted partner for controls improvement activities.

Essential Skills

  • Understands the operations and risks of a general insurance company.
  • Good stakeholder management skills with an ability to actively listen, build strong relationships and influence at all levels. Experience of challenging the decisions of managers at all levels in a professional and robust way.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain technical and complex concepts clearly and concisely to non‑risk experts.
  • Pragmatic mindset with ability to balance commercial and risk considerations.
  • A logical and analytical mind with ability to reach reasoned conclusions from ambiguous and incomplete information.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, with ability to step back and see the wider view.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Confidence in working under pressure and an ability to prioritise and deliver against conflicting deadlines.
