Hours: 22 hours per week (scope to increase in line with service growth).
Based: Norwich with flexible working across East Anglia. Hybrid opportunities are promoted

About the role:

You’ll bring leadership, vision, and trauma-informed insight to a small, passionate team, ensuring our service is safe, nurturing, and truly therapeutic — a place where children and young people can heal, grow, and thrive.

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service, holding the space where children’s voices matter, relationships come first, and outcomes are meaningful.

We are a small, values-led therapeutic agency committed to providing long-term, stable homes for children and young people. Our work is grounded in trauma-informed care and built on the principles of DDP and PACE. We work systemically with children, their families, foster carers, and wider support networks to create meaningful, lasting change.

In this role you will:

Lead the service in line with Ofsted standards, fostering regulations, and best practice.
Embed trauma-informed practice across the agency, using DDP and PACE approaches to guide leadership and decision-making.
Create a culture of openness, reflection, and learning, where everyone feels heard and supported.
Support and supervise staff so they feel safe, resourced, and inspired.
Improve outcomes for children and young people, using data and feedback.

Essential:

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (or equivalent) or be prepared to complete within 2 years of appointment.
Solid experience in fostering or children’s social care, including leadership or supervisory roles.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, systemic working, and therapeutic care.
Knowledge and practical experience of DDP and PACE, or a genuine commitment to learning and applying these approaches.
Confident grasp of fostering regulations, safeguarding responsibilities, and Ofsted expectations.
Ability to lead with empathy, clarity, and purpose — supporting your team while holding high standards.

Desirable:

Registration with Social Work England as a qualified social worker.
Training or certification in DDP, PACE, or other therapeutic models.
Experience in leading or working within a therapeutic fostering or specialist service.

In your role, you’ll have access to the following benefits:

• A “golden hello” scheme, with £1250 paid to you one month after your start date and a second £1250 at the six-month mark. (subject to conditions)

• A referral scheme offering £1000 (paid in 2 payments of £500) if you recommend a contact who goes on to be employed by Break in care services. (subject to conditions)

• Annual leave purchase

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

• Company funded medical cash plan

• Enhanced sick pay and family friendly leave

• And more
