Foundation Programme Director East (E10) and West (W37) Programme FY1 and FY2
Hours: Part Time, 1 PA (4 hours per week). Duration: Fixed Term / Secondment for 12 months. Flexible Location: NES is a remote friendly employer supporting office, remote and hybrid working (within the UK). Salary: Consultant, Associate Adviser or other appropriate pay scale.
Responsibilities
- Manage a Foundation Programme (E10 and W37) and address the education and training needs of approximately 30 residents across the East and West Scotland hospitals listed below.
- Oversee the Foundation teaching programme in collaboration with existing Foundation Programme Directors.
- Contribute to formal Foundation teaching as part of the education team; may also combine the role with educational and/or clinical supervision as required.
- Ensure pre-employment and compliance requirements are met, including confirming employer support for a Service Level Agreement within the candidate’s job plan.
- Engage with regional Postgraduate Deans and Associate Postgraduate Deans as the accountable lead for the Foundation Programme.
- Coordinate meetings and communications (no travel is expected; MS Teams meetings are available).

- East region: Ninewells Hospital and Perth Royal Infirmary
- West region: University Hospital Crosshouse (NHS Ayrshire and Arran), University Hospital Monklands, University Hospital Wishaw, University Hospital Hairmyres (NHS Lanarkshire)
Qualifications and Eligibility
- Recognition of Trainer status required; experience as a Foundation Programme Director or equivalent educational leadership is preferred.
- Applicants should be permanent NHS or University staff in substantive posts (Consultant, GP or SAS doctor) based in the East/West region of Scotland.
- Preference for clinicians locally based to the post in East/West Scotland.
- Must confirm employer support for the role within their job plan prior to interview.
- Right to work in the UK required; sponsorship options may be considered where eligible and against sponsor licencing criteria.
