Foundation Programme Director - FY1 & FY2 West Region W28 (University Hospital Wishaw, NHS Lanarkshire)

Hours: Part Time, 1 PA (4 hours per week)

Duration: Fixed Term / Secondment for 36 months*

Salary: Consultant, Associate Adviser or other appropriate pay scale

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.

This will be across 1 PA of time (1PA = 4 hours).

The Scotland Deanery is responsible for postgraduate medical education.

Responsibilities of the Foundation Programme Director: manage a Foundation Programme and the education and training needs of each individual on the programme (approximately 30 residents) based at University Hospital Wishaw.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for managing the Foundation Programme and the education and training needs of each resident on the programme.
  • Contribute, in partnership with the existing FPDs, to the formal Foundation teaching programme.
  • Be accountable to the Postgraduate Dean or Associate Postgraduate Dean; may also combine the role with educational and/or clinical supervision.
  • Confirm, prior to interview, that their employer would support a Service Level Agreement for this role within their job plan.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Permanent trained staff (Consultant, GP or SAS doctor) in the West region of Scotland, currently in substantive NHS or University posts.
  • Recognition of Trainer status.
  • Willingness to work with the current team and contribute to the Foundation teaching programme.
  • Preference for clinicians locally based to the post across the West of Scotland.
