Job Summary

We’re looking for a proactive and well-organised Freelance Project Coordinator to help deliver our Out and About Pop-Ups – a series of creative, welcoming events designed with and for local communities in North East Derbyshire.

Job Description

Contract: Freelance, fixed term

Duration: 1 October 2025 - 31 March 2026 (6 months)

Commitment: 2 days per week (15 hours)

Fee: Total contract value £8,400 / £21.50 per hour, paid on receipt of invoice at end of calendar month.

Location: Primarily home-based, with travel across North East Derbyshire and occasional meetings in Mansfield

Hours: Flexible working days, however the role will need to suit the needs of the programme, so may be required to work some evenings and weekends where events are planned (agreed in advance).

Deadline: Friday 5th September (5pm)

Role Overview

You will help co-create and deliver a series of inclusive, community-led pop-up events, developed by working closely with local residents, volunteers, and partners. These events will provide creative activities, informal advice, and meaningful social connections in underused local spaces. You'll need to coordinate logistics, support volunteers, manage outreach and promotion, and gather feedback to evaluate the project's impact.

The Out and About Pop-Up project, funded by the Inclusive Communities Fund through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This place-based initiative aims to reduce social isolation, improve access to essential services, and strengthen community wellbeing across five high-need wards in North East Derbyshire.

Out & About Partnership

In Clay Cross, First Art is part of the Out and About partnership, brought together to find new and creative ways to increase walking amongst Clay Cross and Danesmoor residents. The partnership includes: North East Derbyshire District Council. DVA, Active Derbyshire, and First Art. Together we have ran events such as the Clay Cross Games, Out and About Summer Club, Badger's Christmas Trail and Get Togethers.

Job Requirements

Great communicator - written, verbal, and in-person

Confident working with communities and building relationships

Experience working on arts or community projects

Organised, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines

Comfortable working independently as well as in a small team

Job Responsibilities

Work with residents to co-design activities that meet community needs

Support and coordinate volunteers and freelance teams on event days

Promote events with the Marketing and Audience Development Manager

Gather feedback and monitor project outcomes

Maintain strong relationships with local organisations and partners
