About The Job

Five Sigma Finance is a central London–based investment and technology start-up that delivers innovative solutions in the fixed income space. We specialize in credit markets, offering advisory and transaction support services across the entire investment lifecycle for public and private fixed income assets. We are looking for a Front-end Developer to join a small yet high-impact team to contribute to the development of our suite of web applications.

Department or Team: Technology

Reporting Line: Head of Technology, with a dotted line to the Senior Front-End Engineer

Contract Type: Full-time

Working Model: Hybrid

Working hours: 9:00–18:00

In-office expectations: 4 days per week from the office – 1 day working from home. After passing probation: 3 days per week from the office, 2 from home

Job Purpose

As a Front-End Developer, you'll be responsible for building, maintaining and improving our web applications. You will work closely with our back-end and front-end developers to deliver a consistent and reliable web experience. Your work will have a direct impact on the user experience of our clients.

Day to day responsibilities

  • Work closely with other front-end and back-end developers to implement features to a given specification
  • Debug and fix issues
  • Refactor and improve existing code
  • Review colleagues’ code
  • Mentor intern developers
  • Provide input on approaches to problems

About You

  • 3+ years of full-stack (front-end leaning) or front-end experience in a software team
  • Strong adaptability and quick pivoting
  • Excellent communicator with both developers and the broader team
  • Good time management
  • Experience delivering responsive and efficient solutions
  • Knowledge of the entire web development process
  • Ability to implement a resilient web architecture
  • Significant experience with testing and debugging
  • Strong eye for layout aesthetics and detail
  • Great problem-solving skills and teamwork
  • Curious about new technologies and ability to implement them in work
  • Experience coaching and mentoring other developers
