Location: Crewe (hybrid working, 2 - 3 days onsite)
Hourly Rate: 40 - 53.95 via LTD company
Contract Initial End Date: January 1, 2026
Are you a dedicated Functional Safety Engineer looking for your next challenge? Our client is seeking a talented individual to join their Electrical Engineering (EE) department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest safety standards in vehicle functions in line with ISO 26262.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate Functional Safety Activities: Oversee the entire engineering development lifecycle, ensuring that vehicle functions are developed according to Functional Safety process, covering the Concept, Development, Validation, and End of Life phases.
2. Support Function Owners: Work closely with Function Owners to assess the technical impact of changes to Functions, Systems, and Components. Lead internal and external reviews, including Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment reviews.
3. Technical Point of Contact: Serve as the go-to expert for Functional Safety (ISO 26262) within the Electrical Engineering department, developing safety strategies as necessary.
4. Verification Reviews: Conduct thorough verification reviews of work products generated within the department to confirm compliance with ISO 26262.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage effectively with various teams and stakeholders to drive complex safety projects, ensuring challenging deliverables are met on time.
Skills & Experience:
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage at multiple levels across the organisation.
Proven design and development experience in the automotive or related industries.
Ability to influence colleagues and stakeholders within your area of responsibility.
Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.
Knowledge of electrical vehicle functions, including electronic hardware, software, and systems.
Practical & Technical Knowledge:
Solid understanding and hands-on experience with Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments, Functional Safety Concepts, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and Systems Engineering.
Competence in leading safety review meetings and discussions.
Qualifications:
Engineering Degree or equivalent.
Associate membership of a relevant professional institution is preferable.
