Overview

FX Risk Lead Java Developer - VP role at Citi. Citi’s Markets technology team is growing and building innovations used across the globe. The team supports real-time derivatives pricing, risk management and data analytics, with an aim to replace legacy risk applications with new, scalable, web-based UI and server-side computing across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices for high-throughput applications
• Integrate and optimize an in-memory data grid solution (Apache Ignite) for FX trades processing
• Implement real-time data ingestion and processing pipelines using Apache Kafka or Solace messaging
• Design and maintain robust MongoDB / Oracle data models and queries for data persistence
• Ensure application scalability and reliability in a cloud-hosted Linux environment
• Collaborate with DevOps to containerize services and deploy via CI/CD pipelines
• Conduct performance tuning, code reviews, and troubleshoot production issues
• Document system architecture, design decisions, and development processes

What we want from you

• Strong hands-on experience with Core Java and multithreading in high-load systems
• Experience with JVM performance optimization and memory profiling
• Familiarity with distributed systems architecture and in-memory computing concepts
• Production experience with Apache Ignite (in-memory caching)
• Solid experience with MongoDB (CRUD, indexing, performance tuning)
• Deep SQL knowledge and query optimization in Oracle
• Strong understanding of messaging technologies Apache Kafka or Solace
• Proficiency with Linux environment and scripting
• Experience deploying and maintaining applications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Willingness to write code using TDD and participate in L3 support and production release activities
• English language level: B1 or equivalent

Qualifications

• Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications
• Experience managing and delivering successful projects
• Working knowledge of consulting or project management techniques/methods
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of project components

Nice-to-Have

• Understanding of investment banking business processes
• Knowledge of FX risk valuation and pricing procedures
• Experience with FX trade processing

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
