GCP Cloud Infrastructure Engineer – Permanent, Full-time
Location: Pond Street, Sheffield. 3 days a week on site.

Responsibilities
- Deliver Strategic Infrastructure Initiatives and maintain service availability with accountability for annual cloud budgets exceeding £10 million.
- Take a lead role in the RM Cloud Centre of Excellence, driving value from cloud technologies and building strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple architecture disciplines.
- Influence the delivery of major Infrastructure Improvement Programmes, working closely with Senior Infrastructure Managers and Architects (Enterprise, Solution, Cyber, Infrastructure, Data).
- Collaborate with technology portfolios to ensure cloud services are aligned to solid cloud foundations; provide support and guidance to project, product, and platforms teams.
- Develop strong relationships with suppliers, vendors and business partners to deliver well-architected cloud services and perform root cause analysis during major incidents.
- Work with the RM Cyber team to implement best-practice security controls balanced with user experience considerations.
- Act as the central point of contact for GCP-related service decisions, incidents, changes, and service improvement plans.
- Define, publish, deploy and maintain cloud blueprints, standards, patterns and policies to drive consistency across Azure/GCP technologies.
- Own the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) repository and ensure core environmental configurations are maintained; lead Terraform design and deployments via Azure DevSecOps pipelines.
- Drive automation to enable self-service for platform and product engineering (DevSecOps).
- Develop and publish a detailed Cloud Roadmap, align prioritisation, resources and budget; contribute to monthly reporting governance for technology executives.
- Support FinOps initiatives to apply cost controls to cloud resources and contribute to CMDB data accuracy for RM GCP resources.
Qualifications and Skills
- Core skills in Google Cloud Platform: VPC, Firewall, Security Groups/Service Accounts, Interconnects.
- Cloud governance concepts: FinOps, policy, RBAC, Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE), CASB.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Azure AD, and Azure Hybrid Benefit.
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent knowledge.
- Experience with IaC and Terraform; familiarity with Azure DevSecOps pipelines is desirable.
