Dependent on experience, location, fixed term / permanent and hybrid working considered.

Role details

  • It is vital that you are a good team member with a positive and enthusiastic approach to your work. You should be confident, initiative-taking, and able to work independently in your area of expertise.
  • Depending on level the role will include assisting/supervising projects involving borehole drilling; describing and recording Pleistocene or Holocene sediment sequences; advising and sampling on archaeological sites; lab work; deposit modelling; interpretation of site formation processes; and reporting. Effective time and/or financial management will be key.
  • The role will train you in or further your experience of contributing to – and ultimately producing as sole author – technical reports and popular/academic publications.
  • It may be necessary to occasionally travel long distances for site work, including overnight stays. Geoarchaeology at a Site Assistant to Project Supervisor level may be physically demanding and involve site work in adverse weather conditions.

Location

Ideally you will be situated in our York, Milton Keynes, or London office, working closely with our existing geoarchaeology team, and supporting the existing Head of Geoarchaeology. Our geoarchaeology team operates across the UK undertaking a variety of on-site and off-site project types and geoarchaeological tasks.

About You

  • A motivated professional who is interested in developing their career within geoarchaeology and within a forward-thinking company with high professional standards of work;
  • Dynamic individual who will be central to the reputation, future growth, and success of the Group;
  • Excellent team member;
  • Degree level qualifications (or equivalent demonstrable experience) in Archaeology, Geoarchaeology, Quaternary Science or a related earth science discipline;
  • Experienced in supervising borehole rigs desirable but not essential (Project Supervisor only);
  • Experienced in deposit modelling using Rockworks, GIS or equivalent desirable but not essential (Project Supervisor only);
  • Experienced in report writing essential (Project Supervisor and above only);
  • PCIfA / ACIfA / or equivalent, or working towards
  • Valid UK driving licence;
  • CSCS card (preferred).
