Geotechnical Director

Location: Northampton (Hybrid / Flexible Working Available)

Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Salary: £75,000 - £80,000

A strategic leadership opportunity with one of the UK's leading ground engineering consultancies has become available in Northampton. This senior leadership role offers the chance to lead a wide range of geotechnical projects across the UK, working with clients such as house builders, utilities, local authorities, land agents, and private developers.

The Geotechnical Director will involve:

1. Leading complex geotechnical projects from concept to delivery
2. Managing project budgets, timelines, quality, and client expectations
3. Liaising with clients
4. Supporting business development, proposals, and strategic growth initiatives
5. Mentoring junior and mid-level engineers
6. Providing expert support to ground investigation teams across projects
7. Providing high-level technical guidance and oversight on:

• Slope stability and retaining structures
• Earthworks and ground improvement
• Basement Impact Assessments (BIA)
• HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) design
• Geotechnical risk management (GMA, GIR, GDR)

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

• A degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering
• Chartered status or working towards it
• Significant experience in geotechnical consultancy
• A strong track record of project leadership, client engagement, and technical delivery
• Confidence in managing multidisciplinary teams and mentoring
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

The successful candidate will be offered:
