We're seeking a dynamic Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist who brings not only their technical expertise but also an innovative mindset. Whether you come from a traditional geotechnical engineering/engineering geology background or have unconventional experience that adds fresh value, we'd love to hear from you.
We’re looking for a Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist, to join our Ground Engineering team in Bristol.

We work for leading United Kingdom & Ireland (UK&I) and international clients and have a wide range of commissions across all sectors, some typical examples of current and past projects include National Grid’s Great Grid Upgrade where the team are supporting the overhaul of electricity distribution infrastructure across England and Wales; Network Rail’s Control Point 7 programme of works to operate, maintain and renew the mainline rail infrastructure; datacentres; overseas work and work for local authorities in the vicinity of Bristol and Cardiff. Our Ground Engineering Practice covers all aspects of Ground Engineering serving a wide range of end markets including:
- Energy.
- Buildings (e.g. education, commercial, retail).
- Rail.
- Highways.
- Water.
- Defence.
- Nuclear Sectors.
- Ports & Marine.
Job Duties include:
- Delivery : We require ambitious team players with the technical and commercial skills, knowledge and experience to manage tasks and assist the team with the delivery of projects, ensuring technical quality and adherence to budget and programme.
- Provide Expertise : Active input to team/client technical review meetings, being prepared to own decisions and put forward alternative ideas and concepts.
- Commercial : Maintaining high levels of client satisfaction, being responsive to client requirements.
- Mentoring : Owning personal and professional development and assisting colleagues.

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- BEng / MEng in Civil Engineering, BSc / MSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Earth Science or MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is desirable.
- Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) or Chartered Geologist (Cgeol) status is desirable but not a must. If you have a plan and want to achieve this then the team will provide the necessary support to achieve this.
- Demonstrable understanding of current design codes, standards, and best practices in geotechnical design, but also open to exploring new methods and innovations.
- Ability to collaborate closely in project delivery and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
- Experience in authoring Geotechnical Desktop Studies, Geotechnical Specifications and Interpretative Geotechnical Reports.
- Knowledge of typical ground conditions interpretation/parametric assessment and correlation methods applicable to common geotechnical design problems.
- Ideally experience in geotechnical design (e.g. earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, slope stabilisation) with strong analytical skills and some experience in the use of relevant geotechnical design software.
- Familiarity with the production of geotechnical analysis and design packages, including drawings, risk assessments, specifications and design reports.
- Good knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices. Experience in the design, specification and management of ground investigation (remotely and in the field).
- Application of CDM Regulations / Safety in Design in a design and ground investigation environment.
- Experience with standards and processes in specialised fields (e.g. highways, rail, RIBA stages) is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise technical reports and documents.
- Clean driving licence.
- Candidates should be willing to travel throughout the UK.
