The Role

We work with a global network of institutions and partners to offer a range of inclusive international placement opportunities to students and help them gain a global experience.
As Global Experience Manager, you will develop and manage a range of relationships, within the University and across the global sector, and take responsibility for a broad portfolio of work to support the delivery of a key initiative of the University’s Global and Education Strategies: Leading on the promotion, management and delivery of the University’s global mobility programmes with a particular focus on process enhancement and supporting the student experience; you will focus on
- Leading, supporting and motivating the Mobility Team, which is responsible for the operational delivery of inbound and outbound student mobility;
- Guiding the team through the annual cycle of incoming and outgoing student mobility operations, processes, and deadlines;
- Leading on the management of internal and external funding for mobility, e.g. through the Turing Scheme, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements;
- Leading on the use of mobility management systems;
- Leading on the promotion of global educational experiences, including content for our website;
- Raising the profile of opportunities for current students, and leading on the promotion of our incoming mobility offer at partner institutions;
- Liaising with internal stakeholders (Academic Schools; Academic Exchange Coordinators; relevant Professional Services, e.g. Accommodation, Student Finance, Student Wellbeing, Insurance, etc.).
- Manage internal and external budgets and grants for student mobility, including, for example, the financial management of the UK Government’s Turing Scheme, and compliance with internal and external regulations and audit requirements.
- Contribute, alongside the Head Global Partnerships and in collaboration with Faculties and Schools, to the development and implementation of international strategies for Newcastle University.
- Responsible for developing, planning and delivering a range of functions related to our global student mobility portfolio, taking leadership for an agreed set of priorities and targets as part of a team approach, including.
- Lead on the use, development and evaluation of mobility management IT systems.
- Develop and maintain excellent and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop expertise in the acquisition and delivery of intelligence, information and data that is effective and applied to strategic priorities and objectives.
- Co-ordinate and participate in events and visits either in the UK or overseas.
- Lead, manage, develop and motivate colleagues.
- Any other duties as directed.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- The ability to think strategically to deliver against priorities and targets.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills with evidence of meeting operational objectives and service standards.
- Experience preparing and managing budgets.
- Experience of writing report and operational procedures or policies.
- Ability to lead, develop, manage and motivate a team.
- Ability to initiate and lead on new projects.
- Proven track record in working with stakeholders using well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- A good standard of numeracy and the ability to work with digital systems and data.
- Knowledge of international Higher Education.
- A high level of initiative and adaptability, including flexibility regarding working hours and a willingness to travel internationally when required.
- Understands and makes sense of complex or conflicting data and different perspectives of stakeholders and University areas/faculties/etc.
- A high level of discretion, tact and diplomacy.
- Evidence of a drive to innovate and apply creativity to problem solving.
- Actively promotes and develops processes to ensure that excellent service and continuous improvement are integral to the way we work.
- Proactively anticipates and plans for likely problem areas or obstacles by assessing and managing risks.
- Is an innovator with new ideas and concepts and an understanding of delivering and embedding the required change.
- An undergraduate degree or a combination of transferrable work experience and vocational education.
