Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Governance & Controls Oversight - Manager to join our Insurance Operations team.

The Operational Risk, Controls and Resilience team (Operations) is looking for a dynamic individual that wants to help us shape and redefine our resilience and control environment to build an Operations function that has resilience at its heart.

What you'll be doing
We are looking for an experienced Governance Manager who can provide effective and efficient governance oversight and reporting services to the UK COO and their leadership team with a holistic view on our reporting obligations and controls attestations. Some of the expected responsibilities include:
- Provide a full secretariat service for UK Operations' reporting requirements (i.e. Operations and Risk Committee, Board etc.):
- Coordinate and maintain a governance calendar by acting as the first point of contact and 'gatekeeper' for all Operations governance and reporting queries
- Act as the custodian for the recording of necessary follow-ups and actions as well as relevant updates.
- Assist with the arrangement and reporting of board and committee effectiveness reviews, providing advice and assistance.
- Governance & Reporting Oversight:
- Lead the co-ordination and collating of all necessary MI submissions, forward agenda planning and the co-ordination of necessary reviews, papers etc.
- Establish, deliver and embed KPI based and metrics driven dashboards (i.e. monthly, quarterly) to provide impact-orientated management information (utilising PowerBI etc.)
- Undertake ad hoc governance activities and projects as directed by the COO.
- Working as 'One Team':
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with varying stakeholders within and beyond the Operations function whilst acting as an ambassador for Operations.
- Contribute to the team's business plan and delivery of team objectives by role-modelling leadership behaviours and instilling a culture of data ownership and accountability
- Keep up to date with best practice in governance and industry standards.
What you'll bring:
- Accomplished governance professional with good organisational skills, as well as a high commitment to quality with focus on accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
- A proactive, self-motivated team player with the ability to meet multiple deadlines whilst ensuring expectations are managed throughout.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written, with the aptitude to deal with complex issues.
- Experience of drafting Board Reports and dealing with stakeholders, and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships and work flexibly across professional and operational boundaries.
- A commitment to being customer focused and proactively supporting the achievement of organisational initiatives, as well as able to anticipate business needs and forward plan.
- Can convey complex messages and concepts simply, focusing on core issues and actionable recommendations.
- A good problem solver and influencer.
