Role

The Co-operative Bank is seeking a junior data analyst to undertake a full range of operational insight and management information (MI) activities. This includes running and distributing reports and supporting Financial Crime colleagues with insights and data queries to enable risks to be identified, monitored and mitigated.

Key Accountabilities

  • Recommend and maintain specific financial crime detection strategies for all products and channels, including score cut offs, policy rules and model strategies.
  • Carry out routine data gathering under guidance (task-driven, repeatable actions).
  • Support daily/weekly refresh of profiling rules to maintain individual and system performance.
  • Produce monthly analysis reports and KPIs covering all prevention and detection systems.
  • Monitor industry trends in financial crime transaction risk; review current internal strategies and define/recommend challenger strategies to minimise impact.
  • Regularly monitor and measure the contribution/benefit of all component parts of the anti-fraud and money laundering systems strategy and report marginal benefits.
  • Use flexible fraud data services and solutions to drive enhanced analytics capability.
  • Develop, deliver and maintain short-term end-user computing solutions to enhance operational efficiency and fraud monitoring.
  • Support continual review of emerging technologies to improve financial crime risk prevention/detection and/or customer experience.
  • Optimize the balance between scorecard and rule strategies.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience in financial crime management and financial crime industry knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis with experience using SAS/SQL/Python.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams.
  • Experience with large datasets in Excel, including summarising/filtering data into reports (Pivot Tables and graphs).
  • Ability to analyse information effectively and communicate it clearly to various audiences (written and verbal).
  • Proven presentation and listening skills; ability to communicate complex technical information to differing audiences.
  • Proactive approach to personal development and learning.
  • Broad knowledge of the financial market and regulatory issues affecting Financial Crime (desirable).
  • Right to work in the UK (required).
