Neo Environmental, an award-winning and market leading planning and environmental consultancy, have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Ecologist to join our expanding team working on large projects in the UK and Ireland. For the right candidate, this position offers excellent career progression and development with the chance to flourish in a specialist professional environment.
The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of projects across the UK and Ireland, with the main focus on renewable energy developments. You will be given plenty of opportunity to develop your skills and expertise through ongoing mentoring and training in a friendly environment. The ideal candidates will work with a high degree of independence as well as in teams.
This role will be based on our Ballymena (Northern Ireland) office and offers Hybrid working.
You Will Receive

- Support the growing ecology team on a wide variety of projects.
- Aiding with and undertaking ecological surveys including Phase 1/habitat survey and IVCs, Protected species surveys, Bat surveys.
- Compiling survey results into comprehensive reports for planning.
- Liaising with clients and statutory consultees.
- Attending client and site meetings.
- Undertaking ECoW role where required.
- Helping with tender and Fee Proposal production.
- Honours degree in Biology, Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Sciences or any other relevant subject within this discipline.
- A passion for ecology.
- Working towards, if not already, CIEEM membership (or equivalent), with a desire to work towards chartered status.
- Enthusiastic and ambitious.
- Willingness and ability to work independently and in a growing team environment.
- Full driving license.
- Interest in Renewable Energy.
- Own transport (or willing to source it once in the role).
- Experience using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software would be highly advantageous.
- Experience in ecological and protected species surveys, or other technical reports which demonstrate strong scientific writing abilities would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of the practical application of UK/Ireland wildlife legislation, planning policy and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
