The GDP is a structured two-year scheme designed to support your development at the start of your Jacobs career journey. Through a combination of blended learning, mentoring, progress reviews and networking, you will establish yourself as knowledgeable and competent across four key focus areas: human skills, consulting skills, champion our strategy and your passions. The programme allows you to customise your learning journey to reflect your interests, career goals and technical skillset, creating a graduate experience unique to you. It is an on‑the‑job learning experience where you’ll work with your manager and mentor to collect meaningful learning experiences.
The programme is a launchpad for your career, offering tools, experiences and support to work on meaningful projects and collaborate with industry leaders to deliver outcomes for complex challenges.
The Opportunity
Jacobs is a market leader in the transportation sector, working with major clients such as National Highways, Transport for Scotland, Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Heathrow Ltd, Environmental Agency and the Welsh Government. Projects range from global mega-projects to local initiatives with councils and transport authorities, providing opportunities to make an impact worldwide and in local communities.
The successful candidate will receive on‑the‑job training using the latest software tools and analysis techniques, and exposure to a mix of projects through concept, construction and handover into operations. You will assist and support colleagues in the preparation of road safety assessments and audits, collision and casualty analysis and scheme reports to support the enhancement of road network safety across the UK. There may also be opportunities to work on overseas projects in Ireland and the Middle East.
As a new graduate within our Operational Road Safety team, you will help shape the growth of Jacobs across national strategic infrastructure, urban developments and specialist sites. The start date for this position is September 2026.
Aims / Qualifications
- Be working towards a Degree or Master’s level qualification in Transportation, Civil Engineering or Geography
- A flexible self-starter who is keen to drive your career forward
- Adaptable to change, with a thirst for learning new things
- You must have the permanent right to work in the UK
