At Bending Spoons, we strive to build one of the all-time great companies. A company that serves a huge number of customers, where team members grow to their full potential, and that operates with high ethical standards.
To achieve this objective, we execute a strategy that acquires a digital business with untapped potential and makes it successful by leveraging our platform—expertise, technologies, data, brand, talents, and company culture. We invest the proceeds to strengthen the platform and to acquire new businesses, combining an investor’s capital-allocation mindset with an operator’s hands-on approach.
For a talented, driven, and collaborative individual, working at Bending Spoons is an opportunity to learn, make an impact, and progress your career at an exceptionally high rate.
Responsibilities
- Master your toolkit. Work across diverse tech stacks to choose the right tools for each challenge. From monolithic to microservices architectures, gRPC to REST APIs, Kubernetes to Docker, Python to Rust—expertise is about understanding purpose and applying it to unlock potential.
- Build stuff that matters. You’ll have autonomy and ownership from ideation to execution. Build software from the ground up and see how your code evolves into a product used at scale.
- Simplify relentlessly. Turn complexity into simplicity by optimizing pipelines, writing maintainable code, and crafting minimalist architectures to enable scalable, future-proof solutions.
What we look for
- Reasoning ability. Solve complex problems from first principles, structuring ideas clearly and attending to details that matter.
- Drive. Ambition, initiative, effort, tenacity, and a high standard you hold yourself to.
- Team spirit. Support the best idea, work collaboratively, and be reliable, honest, and transparent.
- Proficiency in English. Read, write, and speak proficient English.
What we offer
- Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams. Small, result-oriented, autonomous teams with some of the brightest people in the field.
- Exceptional growth opportunities. We hire individuals with outstanding potential and place them in roles where they can thrive. Spooners in their 20s have led products worth hundreds of millions of dollars; with what it takes, you’ll play essential roles in major projects.
- Competitive pay and equity. Salary ranges vary by location and experience, with potential equity options. Relocation tax incentives may apply in some cases.
- All. These. Benefits. Flexible hours, remote work, generous learning support, top-tier health insurance, relocation assistance, parental support, and annual retreats.
Commitment & contract
Permanent or fixed-term. Full-time.
Location
Milan (Italy), London (UK) or remote.
The selection process
If you pass screening, you’ll take tests designed to assess how you approach unfamiliar problems. If successful, you’ll be invited to interviews. We set the bar high and won’t extend an offer until we’re convinced we’ve found the right candidate. The role may stay open for months or be reposted.
Studies suggest that women tend not to apply if CVs aren’t a perfect fit. Here, talent takes precedence over experience. If you like the role and think you could be awesome in time, apply.
Bending Spoons is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. We consider all applicants and provide reasonable accommodations for disabilities—just let us know through this form.
Before you apply
If you’ve applied before but didn’t receive an offer, we recommend waiting at least one year before applying again.
Bending Spoons is a demanding environment, with high standards and significant commitment. To help you ramp up, we recommend spending your first months in our Milan office, then you may work from Milan or London offices, or remotely from approved countries, as agreed at the offer stage. We’ll assist with travel and accommodation when needed.
If the role speaks to you and you’re excited to contribute, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now—we’re excited to meet you.
