Job Description

At Ramboll we passionately believe that Building Physics and Building Performance modelling is an integrated part of the building services design process.

To deliver best practice in Building Physics and Performance modelling throughout the business, we are looking for enthusiastic Building Physicists at junior level to contribute to our modelling work within our UK Building Performance team.

We have an ever-increasing portfolio of clients looking to better understand how to make the most of their buildings, both throughout design stages and in operation. Experience of dynamic thermal simulation compliance modelling (e.g. Part L, thermal comfort, TM54) and awareness or experience of detailed HVAC component level modelling and NABERS UK assessments is preferred.

Working as part of a team, you will deliver your own project work and become proficient in IESVE and/or SAP, as well as other modelling software packages.

Our Building Services teams across the UK have a strong focus on technical delivery and an excellent understanding of client care, focused on Low and Net Zero Carbon building design. Responsibilities

  • Assist with the production of energy strategies for planning applications (including GLA), carrying out Part L compliance assessments using IESVE or SAP.
  • Model operational energy use within buildings to limit the energy performance gap, including NABERS UK accreditation.
  • Stay up to date with relevant regulations and industry methodologies and guidelines.
  • Understand and incorporate industry-specific assessment methodologies and guidelines.
  • Work using your own initiative with supervision.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and pride in the work produced.
  • Present your work succinctly to others to inspire confidence in design teams and clients, strengthening internal and external relationships.
  • Have an interest in or experience with digital and parametric design tools (Rhino/Grasshopper and relevant programming languages).

Starting Point for Growth

  • Being a graduate of an appropriate engineering degree with a proven and demonstrable track record in the relevant discipline.
  • Experience in building physics, including building energy modelling and compliance analysis using IESVE or SAP.
  • Knowledge of passive design, low/zero carbon technologies and net zero concepts, and the ability to influence all aspects of building design.
  • Accredited honours degree (CIBSE / IET / IMechE Engineering Council).
  • Working towards IEng or CEng status.
