Overview

We’re working with a well-established international business seeking a Group Indirect Tax Manager to join their tax function. This is a senior role with broad responsibility across UK and European operations, offering a mix of compliance oversight, advisory input, and strategic involvement in business projects. The successful candidate will lead a small team and work collaboratively with the wider function. Applicants will preferably have experience in complex supply chain environments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Review and improve tax processes and systems in collaboration with internal teams.
• Manage relationships with HMRC and other European tax authorities.
• Lead and support a small team of tax professionals.
• Provide practical VAT advice to non-tax stakeholders across the business.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects, embedding indirect tax into commercial decision-making.
• Liaise with external advisors to maintain compliance and explore planning opportunities.
• Support audit cycles and financial reporting from an indirect tax perspective.

Requirements

• Professionally qualified in tax or accountancy (e.g. ATT, ACCA, ACA) with 6+ years’ experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK and European indirect tax.
• Experience managing tax authority interactions and external advisors.
• Background in retail or complex supply chain environments is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced business.

This position requires 3 days a week on-site, which can be split between their South West office and London.
