Group Senior Legal Advisor – Privacy

Hybrid & part time working considered (28 hours+ with Monday & Friday working requirement)

As ourSenior Legal Adviser, Privacy, you’ll support our leaders, businesses and functions, and play a vital role in shaping how we help enable use of data whilst governing privacy and digital legal risk across Bupa.

How you’ll help us make health happen!

• You’ll support senior leaders, businesses and functions across Bupa with privacy, digital and AI expertise.

• Take the lead SME role on a variety of projects with global reach and strategic impact.

• Assist the Group Privacy Counsel with the development and maintenance of the Enterprise Privacy Policy, standards, governance and reporting, to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.

• Provide an escalation point for complex technical queries and ensure their effective and commercially sound resolution.

• Keep up to date with external best practice and developments in the law to ensure continuous improvement.

• Initiate, facilitate and promote activities to foster privacy awareness within the organisation.

• Play a role in coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues as and when required

Skills / Qualifications needed for this role

• Significant experience as a qualified solicitor / certified privacy professional with in-depth and extensive specialist knowledge of privacy, data, digital and AI law/regulation/issues.

• In house experience within a large, global, complex organisation, preferably within healthcare, insurance or healthtech.

• Worked in matrixed roles with a high degree of cross-functional dependency.

• Strong background in negotiating complex global contracts, e.g. with tech providers providing cloud services.

• Proven ability to advise on privacy and digital aspects of strategic, multi-jurisdictional data sharing, cloud and technology projects.

• Thrives in a fast-moving and evolving environment, staying resilient and focused on finding practical, business-focused solutions—even if the path forward is unknown or isn’t immediately clear.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships and collaborating across teams and markets to deliver clear, strategic legal guidance.

• Motivated to adopt new technology, including AI productivity tools, to work smarter.
