Responsibilities

  • Review current approach and framework for technical training and development.
  • Develop or oversee the development of technical content including formal and informal, digital and in-person solutions.
  • Run and co-facilitate live / structured events.
  • Curate and drive use of on-demand guidance and resources held on business systems.
  • Develop a programmatic approach to technical skills training and support the professional career development of technical leaders.
  • Collaborate with Regional leads, Excellence disciplines and people leadership to align strategic priorities and annual plans for the program.

The key elements of the role are Strategy and Planning, Implementation and Operational Management.

Strategy and Planning

  • Agree a prioritized plan for an enterprise-wide program for technical training and development through internal networking and stakeholder engagement.
  • Prepare a comprehensive resource and budget plan for approval by the Technical Excellence Executive.
  • Engage subject matter experts and mentors/coaches to enable the plan.
  • Determine the learning approach with other L&D specialists and regional leadership to meet needs (using resources and courses).
  • Identify and build targeted relationships (internal and external) to support the program (clients, certifying bodies, professional organizations, educational establishments).

Development & Deployment of Program Solutions

  • Oversee development and deployment of the program and all technical learning content.
  • Define learning outcomes with Practice Leaders, SMEs, People Leadership and regional L&D.
  • Co-design blended learning solutions with SMEs.
  • Collaborate with wider L&D teams to ensure digital resources are effective.
  • Provide train-the-trainer and coaching/mentoring support for SMEs.
  • Use blended learning, communications and engagement strategies to maximize reach and adoption.

Operational Management

  • Be accountable for operational delivery of the L&D program and communicate the schedule of activities.
  • Implement a measurement and evaluation strategy to monitor effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide reporting to monitor and communicate progress and activity within the L&D program.
  • Provide regular business updates on L&D activities, priorities and actions.
  • Own the collection and reporting of professional information and skills of technical staff.

Knowledge and Experience (Qualifications)

  • Demonstrable experience developing and implementing an enterprise-wide technical training and development program of similar size and complexity.
  • Background in L&D with modern blended learning methods and business outcomes.
  • Experience leading programmatic approaches to employee development for technical professionals.
  • Good domain knowledge within the AEC or relevant industry.
  • Strong stakeholder management, internal consulting skills, and commercial/financial acumen.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence and collaborate in a decentralized, multinational organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to craft content for diverse audiences related to the L&D program.
