For those who dream big and push boundaries on the ground and in the stars to change the world for the better, we strive to enable you to reach these goals.For more information, visit www.mda.space.We’re on the hunt for a new Hardware Design Engineer.MDA’s UK presence creates opportunities to work with leading space industry players, supporting Geointelligence, Robotics & Space Operations, and Satellite Systems, with a focus on advanced space sensors for exploration missions and space-based communication technology.ResponsibilitiesWorking as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers developing GEO FPGA/ASIC based satellite telecommunication payloadsResponsible throughout the Hardware product development lifecycle for specification, design and testingDetailed circuit design including schematic capture, component selection and electronic simulationEngineering analysis and documentation (Derating, Worst Case, Reliability, Radiation, EMI/EMC Analysis, FMECA, Power Budget)Supporting Hardware/Software/System integration, test, validation and qualificationDirecting in-house and 3rd party PCB layout design teamsDeliver prototype and product quality manufacturing packagesRequired Skills And QualificationsBachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline5+ years’ experience in a hardware product design role, in the Space or an equivalent High Reliability sectorDesign of complex, high speed circuits implemented as high density, multi-layer (10+) PCBsExperience of circuit and PCB design and simulation toolsSpecialist knowledge in any of the following areas would be advantageous:High reliability design and analysis (Space, Military, Automotive, etc.)RF design and validationKnowledge of high speed digital design and Serdes interconnectsKnowledge of LEO/GEO communications payloadElectronic circuitry radiation effects and mitigation techniquesDC/DC power supply designKnowledge of environmental, thermal, safety and EMI/EMC standardsPractical use of scripting languages Tcl/Python/Perl etc.Comments/Special ConsiderationsWe are required to conduct a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) screening which includes Right to work, Identity, Criminal records, Employment history checks, and Reference checks.Benefits StatementMDA Space provides competitive compensation and benefits packages including private healthcare, disability income protection, life insurance, pension plan, and an employee assistance program.
