Hardware Engineer

Our client based in Yateley is looking for an Electronic Hardware Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The role requires attending the office two days per week, with the remainder of work performed from home.
The Role
As an Electronic Hardware Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and testing advanced electronic systems. You will work across the full product lifecycle — from concept and design to production and ongoing support — collaborating closely with other hardware and systems engineers to turn requirements into high-performance, reliable hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and schematic capture of analogue and digital hardware
- PCB layout for complex multi‑layer boards
- Test and fault‑finding of electronic hardware
- Firmware and FPGA design
- Development of test processes, equipment, and validation systems
- Through‑life support, maintenance, and obsolescence management
- Documentation and design verification
About You
You’ll be an engineer with a passion for electronic design, curious about adjacent engineering disciplines, and eager to grow your expertise in a supportive environment.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Degree (2:1 or above) in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
- Strong electronic design skills
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills
- A collaborative, proactive approach and desire to learn
- Master’s degree in a related field
- FPGA design (VHDL) using Intel Quartus Prime or similar tools
- Analogue circuit design and signal processing
- Experience with interfaces such as Ethernet, RS232, RS485, SPI, I2C
- Embedded software development in C/C++
- Experience transitioning designs to production and implementing Design for Test (DFT) principles
