Hardware Expert HVDC Control & ProtectionJoin to apply for the Hardware Expert HVDC Control & Protection role at Siemens Energy.OverviewAs a Hardware Expert for HVDC Control and Protection you will work within a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions for both wind farm grid connections and interconnectors, making use of a new transient network analysis laboratory located in Manchester.How You'll Make An ImpactPrepare hardware designs and circuit diagrams for control & protection panels for high voltage DC transmission (HVDC) systemsHandle the corresponding technical documents, cost calculations, circuit diagrams and manuals during offer stage and project executionDesign of BCU-based substation control systems for high voltage direct current systems (HVDC)Program databases for hardware configuration and signal managementImplement control software and verify using simulation tools and real-time test environmentsSupervise workshops during panel manufacturing and support acceptance/functional tests, including occasional travelClarify technical requirements within project teams and with customers and suppliersPrepare work packages for sub-suppliers and manage these work packagesProvide remote support during commissioning and service of HVDC systemsWhat You BringUniversity degree in electrical engineering or comparable professional training with significant experienceExcellent knowledge of hardware for control & protection panels for high voltage substations or energy generation/transmission plantsVery good knowledge in parameterisation of bay control units (BCUs), ideally SIPROTEC 5 devices with DIGSI and CFC (Continuous Flow Chart)Very good CAE knowledge, ideally in Engineering BaseExperience in measuring and instrumentation technologies for high voltage transmission systems; knowledge of Power Quality and Fault Recording Systems is a plusSolid understanding of high voltage and substation technology, interlocking schemes, and automated control sequencesGood knowledge of secondary interfaces of HV components such as switching devices, transformers, CTs and VTsVery good English; German is an advantageStrong communication and teamwork skills for result-oriented and creative development with focus on high-quality executionAbout The TeamOur Grid Technology division enables a reliable, sustainable, and digital grid.
