Head of Architecture & Platform Engineering

Package: £100,000 - £120,000 + 15-20% bonus + 9% Pension Contribution + Private Medical

Location: London (hybrid working)

My client is a rapidly growing FTSE250 international organisation offering a range of solutions to the global Professional Services sector. As part of their exciting growth plans, they are seeking a Head of Architecture & Platform Engineering to lead the technical architecture strategy and platform engineering capabilities across their global footprint.

The Role

  1. Define and maintain enterprise architecture strategy, standards, and governance frameworks that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  2. Lead the Platform Engineering team (3 Platform Engineers and 1 Cyber Engineer) in designing, implementing, and maintaining Azure infrastructure and platform services.
  3. Provide technical leadership and strategic guidance to support business growth and operational efficiency objectives.
  4. Collaborate with the Head of Software Engineering to establish software architecture patterns, integration approaches, and technology standards across the development lifecycle.
  5. Oversee architecture for system integrations, working with existing tools including Sage, Kantata, Concur, and Workato, whilst identifying opportunities for enhanced connectivity.
  6. Contribute to technology roadmap development and strategic planning processes.
  7. Assess emerging technologies and their potential application within the technology estate.
  8. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within the Technology function.

The Person

  1. Extensive experience in enterprise architecture roles with success in leading technical strategy and platform engineering teams.
  2. Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure platform services, architecture patterns, and cloud solution design.
  3. Proven experience with Microsoft 365 and enterprise licensing optimisation, particularly E5 suite capabilities.
  4. Demonstrated experience in leading platform engineering teams and establishing infrastructure-as-code practices.
  5. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  6. Proven track record of establishing architecture governance frameworks and technical standards in mid-sized organisations.
  7. Strategic thinker with the capacity to grow and develop.

The role is based at their London HQ, supporting hybrid working with 2 days per week home-based once up-to-speed.
