About The Team

At Bath & North East Somerset Council we have one overriding purpose to improve people’s lives. We have an exciting opportunity to lead our Capital Programme and Project Management Service. The role represents a fantastic opportunity to lead a team responsible for the development and delivery of significant capital investment to drive forward transformation within a UNESCO World Heritage Site and UNESCO World Heritage Spa, around Britain’s only thermal springs and within an area of outstanding natural beauty.

You will be joining at a time when the Council (B&NES) is undertaking a period of significant capital investment in a range of challenging programmes, across our unique and diverse asset portfolio. The Council’s Capital Programme is shaping the long‑term sustainability of transport, and the social, historic, environmental and economic landscape of Bath and North East Somerset.

About You

We are seeking an experienced leader to be the head of our award‑winning capital programme and project management team. You should have a proven track record in delivering ambitious outcomes through successful leadership of nationally significant programmes of work, ideally in areas such as transport, housing, urban regeneration or ecology. You will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of developing, implementing and managing programme delivery teams and frameworks to control the risk to delivering outcomes and benefits. Your people skills will allow you to develop a strong, positive working culture across the Capital Programme and Project Management service.

This includes the retrofit of many of our 1,100 properties and delivery of sustainable transport, public realm and new build projects, to achieve net‑zero by 2030.

About Us

You will be part of the directorate senior leadership team of a friendly, experienced and supportive Sustainable Communities Directorate who collectively work across a diverse portfolio of services with responsibility for Planning, Heritage, Housing, Transport Strategy, Public Realm, Corporate Estate, Highways, Parking, City Centre Management, Building Control and Waste.
