About Us

Organisations gain scalable, actionable help; people gain confidence and independence. With over half our team neurodivergent and 25,000+ users supported, we build with lived experience.

Recently recognised as a Times Best Places to Work, we’re a fast-moving, supportive place to grow, with clear goals and flexible ways of working so you can thrive. Join our mission-led team and help turn purpose into outcomes that improve our users’ lives.

About you

We’re scaling a product that transforms lives, and we need someone to help us take it further, faster. This isn’t about hard selling; it’s about protecting the trust we’ve built in the public sector while unlocking bold new ways to reach the people who need us most.

You’ll be part strategist, part experimenter, part builder: nurturing partnerships, testing new growth channels with speed and creativity, and turning sparks of opportunity into scalable, repeatable revenue. If you thrive on purpose-driven growth, love collaborating with brilliant colleagues, and want the thrill of building something that matters, this is your chance to shape both our future and the impact we make in the world.

Your responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Shape and deliver a commercial strategy that aligns with our growth ambitions.
  • Contribute a strong commercial voice to company-wide strategy and planning.
  • Represent the commercial team with the CEO and, when required, at Board level.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to connect demand generation, innovation and revenue growth.

Commercial Growth

  • Spot, test, and scale new market opportunities with speed and creativity.
  • Build and nurture existing high-value partnerships across the public sector and beyond, recognising the role of intermediaries in driving uptake.
  • Lead all business development and account management activities—opportunity shaping, negotiation, forecasting, and revenue delivery.

Commercial Systems & Processes

  • Embed and optimise commercial systems and tools (HubSpot, LinkedIn ABM, etc.) to support scale and data-driven decision making.
  • Define KPIs, growth targets, and reporting structures that drive accountability and learning.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, resilience, and entrepreneurialism within the team.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the commercial team to be accountable and deliver results.
  • Build the structure and talent needed for future growth.

What you’ll bring

You’re not a traditional sales leader; you’re a builder, a connector, and a strategist who thrives in fast-moving environments. You know growth comes from curiosity, creativity, and scalable approaches.

  • Growth Mindset: Entrepreneurial, commercially sharp, energized by testing new ideas and scaling what works.
  • Relationship Builder: Skilled at nurturing partnerships with influence that is subtle, long-term, and built on trust. Experience with public sector or intermediary-led models is a plus.
  • Strategic & Hands-On: Comfortable setting big-picture direction and practical enough to refine CRM, shape client proposals, or test a new channel.
  • Data-Informed: Confident using systems like HubSpot to forecast, analyse, and make smart commercial decisions.
  • Collaborative Leader: Energised by working with peers, especially in marketing, to create joined-up growth strategies and high-performing teams.
  • Communicator & Influencer: Clear and credible in front of clients, senior stakeholders, and the Board.
  • Values-Driven: Motivated by purpose and making a genuine difference in people’s lives.

What success looks like

  • Deliver a minimum of 10% growth in billings within the first 12 months.
  • Build a joint marketing + commercial rhythm that consistently delivers qualified opportunities and measurable revenue growth.
  • Embed core commercial infrastructure (CRM optimisation, pipeline visibility, and reporting) within 6 months.

What you can expect

We’re scaling fast, we work at pace and we work hard. We actively support our colleagues to relish the pace, challenge and ambition of Brain in Hand, so you can expect:

  • A 9-day working fortnight, with every 2nd Friday focused on well-being.
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • A values-driven, supportive and collaborative team culture.
  • Opportunity to shape Brain in Hand through regular colleague consultation and feedback.
  • A competitive salary and pension.
  • 33 days leave annually (incl. bank holidays).
  • Support for professional and personal development.
