Join Our New Commissioning Team

Walsall Council is investing in a bold new commissioning model that puts people and place at the heart of service design. As part of this transformation, we’re recruiting a Head of Commissioning – Live Well to lead commissioning for adults aged 14–65, including learning disabilities, mental health, housing support, employment, and unpaid carers.

This is a key leadership role in our integrated commissioning team, working closely with health, housing, and voluntary sector partners to deliver innovative, person-centred support that promotes independence and wellbeing.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead commissioning for adults with complex needs, including mental health and learning disabilities.
  • Develop and implement an All-Age Carers Strategy.
  • Shape services that promote early help, prevention, and community based support.
  • Analyse data and market capacity to inform future service models.
  • Drive quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across sectors to deliver integrated, impactful support.

We’re seeking a strategic, collaborative leader with:

  • Proven experience in adult social care commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of community development and partnership working.
  • Ability to lead transformation and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Commercial acumen and a focus on value for money.
  • A commitment to inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
