Head of Compliance (SMF 16 & SMF 17) - Fluent German Speaker

Martis Search represents an established London-based Banking organisation seeking a permanent Head of Compliance (SMF 16 & SMF 17). The role is 100% hands-on and strategic, facing the FCA, and accountable to them for all related Compliance in London as the SMF 16 & SMF 17 holder.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Compliance Oversight function (SMF 16) and the Money Laundering Reporting function (SMF 17).
• Operate as a senior generalist within a UK FCA-registered banking environment, with exposure to a European subsidiary preferred.
• Interact with the FCA and maintain strong governance of compliance activities across the London operation.
• Present and interpret FCA regulations and ensure appropriate navigation and application of the FCA Handbook, AML regulations, and GDPR.

Qualifications

• Experience at the Senior Compliance Manager or Head of Compliance level as a generalist within a UK FCA-registered bank, ideally with European subsidiary exposure.
• Strong understanding and interpretation of the FCA Handbook and relevant regulations (AML, GDPR).
• Fluent German language skills are required.
• Must have full UK Right to Work status with no visa sponsorships available (no Youth Mobility, Tier 4, Spouse Visas, etc.).
