Office Attendance - Our roles are hybrid; however, you must be able to travel to our office 2 days per week for this role.

Opportunity

We’re recruiting a Head of Data Services and AI to join our Technology Function at Tesco Insurance and Money Services, reporting into the Chief Information Officer. This is a key leadership role; you’ll act as the organisational authority and established expert in Data Services and AI matters, building a data and AI function for our future and managing a multi-disciplinary team.

The Head of Data Services and AI provides an environment that ensures we can use data to make better decisions and services. Creating an environment where data protection and privacy is balanced with access, sharing and innovation.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for the build and run of Tesco Insurance and Money Services’ data and AI platforms and services. You will lead on the design and build of the target operating model for the function. You will lead our data and AI strategy across the organisation. You’ll architect and engineer industry leading data and AI products and services. You’ll provide capabilities and tools to the data community across Tesco IMS and develop data products at scale.

  • Advanced and Predictive Analytics: Creating well-defined road maps that align predictive analytics projects with business needs, leading cross-functional teams in the implementation and ongoing use of advanced and predictive analytics' software tools and functionalities.
  • Performance Improvement through Artificial Intelligence: Defining the road map for machine learning implementation, leading the model development life cycle, including data preparation, ingestion and integration, feature engineering, model engineering, and model evaluation.
  • Business Requirements Identification: Eliciting complex business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
  • Data Science Strategy: Leading the development and delivery of the data science strategy to use data to make more intelligent decisions across Tesco Insurance and Money Services which leverages Tesco Group assets and improve customer outcomes.
  • Driving a culture of innovation by creating multi-stakeholder solutions that boosts creativity, innovation, and collaboration across business areas.
  • Enterprise Infrastructure Modernization: Driving advances in technologies and architectures to increase the value delivered by technology and digital capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and leading projects to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes.
  • Wide and deep experience providing expert competence, with demonstrable experience of building strong relationships and the ability to pragmatically challenge stakeholders, including senior leaders.
  • A strategic and collaborative mindset, with a passion for developing people and driving continuous improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A focus on prioritisation and being accountable for delivering what matters.
  • Ability to manage complexity and demonstrate experience of delivering complex data services in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

A degree or equivalent qualification or experience in a related Data discipline.
