Head of Delivery

New Yesterday

Overview

Our Future Health will be the UK's largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases. Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective.

We are hiring a Head of Delivery to lead the delivery of highly complex Research & Data projects. Working closely with our Exec team and Senior Leaders, you will deliver a portfolio of work with many interdependencies. You will bring deep experience building and maintaining momentum across product teams of multi-skilled professionals, motivating and supporting colleagues whilst removing blockers enabling them to do their best work.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior member of the Delivery leadership team, responsible for delivering a portfolio of programmes that expand and deepen engagement with the research community, driving adoption and sustained use of our service
  • Develop key business processes and ways of working to ensure the organisation can effectively deliver against researcher requirements
  • Drive growth and revenue outcomes by ensuring delivery programmes align to market needs, customer acquisition strategies, and commercial goals
  • Collaborate closely with teams to shape researcher onboarding, usage journeys, and service enhancements that improve adoption, retention, and monetisation
  • Ensure organisation teams, processes and ways of working reflect the requirements of researchers, CROs, and other partners
  • Use key commercial impact metrics (adoption, engagement, NPS) to ensure delivery work demonstrably supports revenue growth
  • Identify opportunities for new or updated revenue streams emerging from delivery programmes and feed these into the commercial planning cycle
  • Lead planning activity for programmes of work, managing complex interdependencies and resources
  • Collaborate with and direct external suppliers and delivery partners as well as work with internal teams. Devising milestones and methods to hold programme teams and external suppliers to account, whilst fostering long term relationships
  • Implementing and supporting the use of appropriate project methodologies, digital tools and ways of working to empower distributed teams to deliver
  • Delivering options appraisals, status reports, risk management, resource modelling, and supporting budget management and delivery planning within constraints
  • Supporting continuous improvement of ways of working, processes and delivery methods

Requirements

  • A rigorous, highly motivated delivery professional experienced in delivering a variety of technology and operations projects with significant complexity and budgetary responsibility
  • Experienced in agile and lean methodologies and able to adapt delivery approaches to suit the needs of diverse research stakeholders, from early-stage pilots to scaled services, selecting pragmatic tools, frameworks, and processes to maximise engagement and impact
  • Demonstrated experience in building and scaling programmes that attract, onboard, and retain external users or customers — ideally researchers — while balancing quality, compliance, and pace
  • Experienced in thriving in ambiguity and guiding a new team to define their ways of working and facilitate continual iteration
  • Highly collaborative across functions (e.g., Commercial, Product, Science, Comms) to identify dependencies and proactively manage them
  • A self-starter who can work collaboratively to define and demonstrate delivery's value to the wider team
  • Experience with defining, setting and driving the Objective and Key Results setting process and acting as the programme's champion
  • Ability to work at both a strategic and tactical level to shape a new team and deliver against objectives
  • Very experienced in managing competing requirements, negotiating with stakeholders, planning and resource allocation, leading workshops, managing uncertainty and implementing change
  • Able to work at many levels, with senior stakeholders and in the detail of the work, thriving on problem solving, managing competing priorities and delivering
  • Experienced in developing and scaling digital products and technology (including infrastructure) with a thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle from discovery to delivery
