We empower people with the literacy skills they need to succeed in life. Together we're helping people change their stories. You could join us to lead our digital transformation strategy.

What You'll Be Doing

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of our digital transformation strategy. You will set out our digital proposition, oversee end-to-end delivery of digital projects and lead the change management required to embed digital systems. You will also manage the digital marketing budget, working with third party suppliers, including digital agencies.

You will lead both your own team of three direct reports as well as a digital matrix team comprising colleagues across our IT, CRM and membership functions. You will also be part of the charity's extended leadership team, helping to guide organisational culture and strategy and advising the senior management team.

This role is based in London but you will be able to work from home if you prefer under our flexible working policy. However, you will need to be in London for in-person meetings, team and organisational days, or other office-based work, and travel costs cannot be covered. This is likely to be once or twice a month on average, although it could be a lot less at times.

What We're Looking For

You will need significant experience of senior digital leadership and strategy development, and leading and motivating a digital team. You will also be able to lead consumer-facing campaigns with a digital-first focus and manage relationships with senior external stakeholders as well as agencies and other partners. Excellent communication and collaboration skills will be essential. Experience of contributing to organisational strategy development, and how behavioural insight can be utilised to deliver behaviour change, would be an advantage.

Why our work is so vital

Literacy changes everything. It gives you the tools to get the most out of life, and the power to shape your future. Its the key to knowledge, confidence and inspiration. Its better results at school, and better jobs. If children grow up without the tools to communicate, without books to read or opportunities to write, it’s harder to get where you want to go.

The National Literacy Trust is an independent charity helping people overcome these challenges and change their life chances through the power of words reading, writing, speaking and listening. From first words, through school days to training, jobs and beyond.

What we offer you

Our team are passionate about our mission and we have a strong and positive working culture, based on shared values and respect. We offer a range of flexible working options and promote a workplace where you can be yourself and contribute to our success, whoever you are.

As well as a competitive salary, we offer benefits including a generous leave allowance totalling 39 days (including bank holidays and office closure between Christmas and New Year), pension contributions of 8% of annual salary, a cycle to work scheme, employee assistance programme and other health and wellbeing benefits.
