The Charity:
GroceryAid has been the charity for the grocery industry since 1857, offering free and confidential welfare support to over 2.6m in the industry from the first day of their employment. More than 450 of the most wellknown grocery retailers and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) brands support the charity, enabling us to help more than 70,000 people in the last twelve months. The charity raises funds through a highly respected events calendar and the D&I in Grocery Programme.
D&I in Grocery Programme:
The programme is delivered and facilitated by GroceryAid, with the support of the Strategy Steering Group and three workstream steering groups, it is a programme created for the industry by the industry. With over 100 Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) partners, it is the largest collaboration of FMCG brands, working towards the common goal to accelerate a truly diverse and inclusive grocery industry.
The programme benefits its partners through:
- Tracking tangible progress annually through the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) in Grocery Maturity Model (an annual industry designed measurement and benchmarking tool)
- Shared learning activity across monthly learning labs and cross industry Employee Resource Group (ERG) forums. Resources within The Partner Hub (programme platform) including podcasts, policies, toolkits and learning content
- A 12-month cross-industry mentoring programme which provides equity and opportunity to underrepresented communities
- D&I in Grocery LIVE! unites the industry once a year, at the largest D&I event in the grocery sector
- Connects partners on different topics to share and learn from each other to accelerate their journey
- Delivering additional consultative support services to accelerate partners’ Diversity and Inclusion journeys
Main purpose of the role:
To lead in delivering growth in line with the new strategy to 2030. Cultivating high-value partnerships and spearheading a future-focused programme that drives measurable impact across the industry. The role demands strategic and commercial acumen, bold and dynamic leadership, and a sharp execution mindset. The role offers a unique opportunity to work with the industry’s leading brands with the opportunity to reach 2.6 million colleagues.
Main responsibility of the role:
- Provide strategic leadership to drive growth in alignment with organisational vision and market dynamics
- Build impactful relationships, with key decision makers, to enhance influence and collaboration
- Lead a high performing team, creating a culture of accountability and continuous development
- Deliver a programme of excellence, driving innovation, operational efficiency and measurable outcomes
Strategic leadership:
- Lead collaboration with the Strategy Steering Group to deliver the 2030 vision
- Champion innovation to unlock ongoing partner value and revenue through D&I trends and insights
- Embed a digital-first mindset that streamlines operations
- Elevate the programmes visibility whilst increasing awareness of GroceryAid’s welfare support
Relationship Management:
- Manage and retain a portfolio of high-impact partner accounts
- Build and leverage a senior leadership network across the industry
- Engage with the D&I community to bring fresh insights and advance programme relevance
Team and culture:
- Inspire and develop a high-performing team, turning engagement survey feedback into action
- Lead on resource planning and drive a continuous improvement approach across processes
- Model and embed GroceryAid values to foster inclusion and shared purpose
- Lead delivery of workstream plans and effective steering group governance
- Own the annual Maturity Model lifecycle and future developments
- Support the delivery of in-person consultative services (D&I action plans and Inclusive Management Fundamentals)
- Manage balanced scorecard targets, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking, reporting and insights
- Ensure best-in-class programme governance and reporting
- Oversee full programme financials including budget and Profit and Loss (P&L) accountability
- Attendance at some of the GroceryAid events throughout the year to build relationships with partners and new business opportunities, GroceryAid events Calendar
Experience/Skills:
- Five plus years of successful project or programme management experience
- Five plus years of effective people management, team-building and stakeholder management experience
- Demonstratable experience in working on D&I strategies with an understanding of D&I in the workplace and the role it plays in driving business success
- Demonstratable achievements in driving commercial growth
- Proven experience working directly with executives to support business decision making
- Confident presenter and facilitator, with experience of delivering sessions at senior leadership level Qualities: • Highly organised and motivated self-starter that drives programme success through relationship management and innovation
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while working under pressure and at speed • A passion/ personal interest in improving D&I in the workplace and beyond

Additional Information:
- Location: Sandhurst, hybrid working, currently a minimum of two days a week (Wednesday and one day of choice) are in the office
- Hours:Full-time, 34 hours a week. Occasional extra hours will be required for working on site at events
- 25 annual leave days plus public holidays (and additional 3 days at Christmas)
