Head of Finance Change – Hybrid Working

Join Oliver James to lead a bank-wide finance transformation. The role is pivotal in driving innovation, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring our finance systems, processes, and people are future-ready.

Role

The Head of Finance Change will report to the Finance leadership team and be responsible for driving and delivering finance-related change projects across the bank. This includes ownership of large enterprise programmes and business-led initiatives that impact the Finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver key strategic projects including bank reconciliation tool implementation, accounts payable system upgrade, data warehouse upgrade, treasury system upgrade, and potential general ledger replacement.
  • Take ownership of wider finance-related change initiatives driven by other business units such as lending platform changes.
  • Manage a portfolio of smaller-scale initiatives focused on automation, process improvement, and system optimisation.
  • Develop and execute a multi-year finance transformation roadmap aligned with business goals.
  • Ensure projects are structured and governed effectively, particularly on larger programmes involving dedicated teams.
  • Act as the finance SME across change initiatives, bringing strong understanding of finance processes, systems, and controls.
  • Operate in a hands‑on capacity when needed, particularly on leaner projects without dedicated teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven track record of delivering complex finance transformation projects in financial services (banking experience highly desirable).
  • Qualified accountant or deep understanding of financial reporting, ledgers, and accounting systems.
  • Strong understanding of finance systems, ideally with exposure to tools such as Workday or Phoebus (not essential).
  • Experience delivering both enterprise‑wide change and smaller tactical enhancements.
  • Comfortable operating in high-growth, fast‑paced environments with shifting priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence across Finance, IT, and business teams.
  • Experience in change management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.
  • Outcome-focused with a “roll up your sleeves” approach – this is not a back‑seat or purely strategic role.
