Title: Head of Finance - Performance Reporting

Contract Type: 12-month Fixed-Term Contract, Full-Time, 35 hours

Salary: £90,480 per annum to £100,207 per annum (London weighted salary) or £79,245 per annum to £88,568 per annum (Regional salary), dependant on experience

Grade: 13

Reporting Office: London, Stratford or Manchester, Trafford

Persona: Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/working location (hybrid working)

Your impact in the role

You will report directly to the Director of Finance - Reporting & Monitoring and lead a close knit, motivated a highly performing and engaged team of finance professionals. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Financial Operations & Decision Support: Lead budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cost management to ensure accurate, timely financial operations that enable informed decision-making across the business.
  • Insight & Business Planning: Partner with strategy leaders to translate financial performance into actionable insights, supporting business plans through cost analysis and funding assessments.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting Cycles: Coordinate annual and quarterly financial planning, ensuring alignment between operational budgets and cashflow forecasts with clear assumptions and rigorous reviews.
  • Controls & Compliance: Maintain strong financial governance through effective policies, internal controls, and risk management practices across day-to-day activities.
  • Team Leadership & Systems Improvement: Develop finance colleagues professionally, foster a high-performing team culture, and drive improvements in systems, workflows, and stakeholder communication.

What you'll bring

  • Technical Expertise: Professionally qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with strong knowledge of capital expenditure and investment appraisal techniques; sector-specific experience is helpful but not essential.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams, delegate effectively, and foster a positive team culture.
  • Commercial & Analytical Skills: Strong financial analysis and commercial awareness to support strategic decision-making and organisational goals.
  • Communication & Influence: Clear communicator capable of engaging senior stakeholders and presenting complex financial information in an accessible way.
  • Planning & Systems Proficiency: Skilled in managing priorities and risks, with proficiency in business software and financial tools to support analysis and reporting.
