What skills and experience we're looking for

Experience

  • Senior financial management and strategic leadership either in the public
  • or private sector with accountability for a complex resource base
  • Experience of preparing consolidated monthly management accounts
  • with variance analysis, balance sheet and cash flow forecasts
  • Experience of preparing annual accounts
  • Experience of leading on external and internal audits
  • Experience of preparing complex financial forecasts
  • Experience of completing month end reconciliations including payroll, bank, and other balance sheet items
  • Experience of managing fixed asset registers, contracts registers and other financial data.
  • Demonstrate drive, energy, resilience, and the ability to lead, coordinate the work of, inspire and motivate others.
  • Have an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to safer working practice for those staff working with children and young people in an education setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of consolidated accounting systems within education, government, or charity environment
  • Thorough knowledge of the Academies Trust Handbook, Academies Accounts Direction and Funding Agreements
  • Knowledge of payroll management
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, including tendering
  • Comprehensive knowledge of school budget management
  • Experience of financial management within education, charity, or government funded setting
  • Experience of financial management within a Multi Academy Trust
  • Experience of preparing tender documentation and supplier specifications, and best practice procurement Experience of completing DFE returns including AAR, BFR and other ESFA submissions

  • Approachable, accessible and flexible
  • Able to work effectively under pressure, prioritising and delegating appropriately to meet deadlines Computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
