Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Financial Insights and Business Partnering to lead the Management Information Section (MIS) finance team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality finance business partnering, budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting services across the University’s academic, professional services, and research support functions. You will work closely with colleagues across the wider University and the Finance department to provide insightful financial support, drive process improvements, and influence decision-making at senior levels. As the University transitions to a cloud-based accounting system, you will guide the team through changes to financial processes, systems, and reporting, working collaboratively with the programme team to support a smooth and effective implementation. You will contribute to strategic projects and support development of new initiatives and practices in response to internal priorities and external developments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the MIS finance team in finance business partnering, budgeting, forecasting, and management accounting.
  • Provide insightful financial support and influence decision-making at senior levels.
  • Guide processes and reporting during the transition to a cloud-based accounting system.
  • Support delivery of strategic projects and development of new initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the University and Finance department to drive improvements.
  • Participate in flexible/hybrid working arrangements and on-campus meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience in financial leadership roles.
  • Strong track record in finance business partnering and strategic financial support.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and influence decisions.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI and financial reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting; ability to communicate financial implications to non-financial audiences.
  • Experience supporting system and process change; adaptable to change.
