This secondment opportunity is for a senior leadership role in the NECC, a multi-agency team established in 2018 to combat economic crime. The NECC, housed within the NCA and working alongside UKFIU, leads responses to economic crimes through Threat Leadership, Public-Private Partnerships, and Operational Coordination, drawing personnel from various UK law enforcement and private sectors.The Head of Fraud Threat Leadership manages a team dedicated to reducing the threat of fraud against individuals and businesses. The role involves enhancing operational responses through strategic initiatives and partnerships, using intelligence to impact scale and effectiveness.
The role reports to the Deputy Director Fraud and is part of the NECC’s Senior Management Team, overseeing approximately 20 personnel across various fraud domains. The post chairs the Public Private Threat Group for Fraud and participates in several strategic governance groups.
Main Responsibilities
- Represent Policing in the NECC
- Lead a team of 4 direct reports and 20 subject matter experts
- Participate in the NECC Senior Management Team
- Co-Chair the Public Private Threat Group
- Deliver strategic objectives aligned with the UK Fraud Strategy
- Manage a fraud funding budget of over £12m
- Chair the NCA’s Silver Group for Fraud Pursue
- Collaborate with law enforcement, government, and private sectors
- Provide inclusive leadership and strategic direction
- Raise awareness and set priorities through governance and media
- Develop and deploy fraud expertise and oversee cross-sector projects
- Act as an ambassador for NECC and UK economic crime response
Entry Criteria
- Knowledge and experience in policing’s fraud/economic landscape
- Experience leading outcomes at a senior level in economic crime
- Experience managing diverse teams and fostering innovation
- Ability to influence complex systems and multi-stakeholder environments
