Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, engaging and creative Head of Humanities. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching students of all abilities to reach their academic potential and will have the knowledge, skills and personal qualities to lead a department of dedicated professionals. As Head of Department, you will use your subject expertise and passion for teaching to support teachers in the department to ensure the curriculum, assessment and teaching are of the highest standard.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the Humanities department, using subject expertise and passion for teaching to drive high standards in curriculum, assessment and delivery.
  • Model outstanding practice and sustain a student-centered approach with wellbeing at the forefront.
  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure inclusive, comprehensive education for students of all abilities.
  • Work flexibly to support student achievement and contribute to the department’s ongoing development.
  • Contribute to the academic, spiritual, moral and cultural well-being of young people; support continual school improvement.
  • Engage in excellent professional development opportunities.

About the school

Thomas Bennett Community College is a welcoming school community, with high expectations. We are ideally located for commuters, situated 30 minutes from Brighton and London. We have an impressive, modern school site with outstanding facilities across all subject areas. We joined the Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) on 1 September 2012 and are part of a group of 7 TKAT academies in Crawley. Through focused and bespoke training, staff are equipped with the skills to engage learners through the delivery of high-quality lessons. Teachers receive a laptop for their own use.
