NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a Head of Process Design & Integration to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.
The Head of Process Design & Integration is accountable for the design, optimisation, approval, and implementation of new business processes within the scope of the Supply Chain & IT Modernisation programme. This role ensures that all process changes and new designs are strategically aligned and function cohesively across the end-to-end value chain.
Working in close partnership with Value Stream Leads and Process Owners, the Head of End-to-End Process ensures that processes are integrated, efficient, and support the programme’s transformation goals.
The role collaborates extensively with subject matter experts (SMEs), the Business Architecture and Design Team, and relevant internal and external stakeholder groups to ensure that all identified capabilities are effectively enabled through the business process landscape.
The Head of Process Design & Integration provides line management and leadership to the Value Stream Leads, ensuring they are fully engaged with all relevant projects and workstreams, and maintains strong partnerships with Process Owners and their respective Directorates.
Your Daily Journey in This Role
- Lead the design, optimisation, and implementation of end-to-end processes within the programme scope.
- Ensure all process changes align with strategic objectives and integrate effectively across domains.
- Provide line management and leadership to Value Stream Leads, supporting their development and performance.
- Collaborate with Process Owners to ensure process continuity and ownership across Directorates. Work closely with the Change Management team to drive adoption and embed new ways of working.
- Partner with SMEs, Business Architecture and Design Team, and stakeholder groups to enable capabilities through process design.
- Oversee process governance, documentation, and approval workflows.
- Ensure Value Stream Leads are actively engaged in all relevant projects and workstreams.
- Monitor process performance and ensure continuous improvement initiatives are delivered.

What skills will help you thrive in this role?
- Accustomed to defining and driving the strategic vision for process excellence across the organisation, ensuring all processes support business objectives.
- Proficient knowledge in conducting detailed analysis of existing ("as‑is") processes, identifying gaps, and designing optimised ("to‑be") processes, often using process mapping and other methodologies.
- Demonstrable experience of internal and external stakeholder management, with the ability to have difficult conversations.
- Must have strong experience collaborating effectively with business unit leaders, functional teams, and other stakeholders to gain buy‑in for process changes and ensure successful implementation.
- Experience collaborating with Cross‑Functional teams and work with various departments to understand their unique challenges and integrate their needs into comprehensive end‑to‑end process improvements.
- Accomplished Team Leadership, mentor, and developed a team responsible for process analysis, improvement, and governance.
- Expertise in Lean Six Sigma or equivalent methodologies.
