I'm looking for an exceptional engineering leader to take charge of product development, technical innovation, and engineering excellence across a growing technology business. This is a high-impact role at senior leadership level, where you'll shape the product roadmap, drive technical strategy, and deliver innovative solutions that exceed customer expectations.

My client is a pioneering UK manufacturer of electro-mechanical solutions, with a strong reputation for innovation, reliability, and sustainability. From concept through to market delivery, they design and develop products that solve real-world challenges and support customers globally across diverse industries.

What You’ll Be Doing (Responsibilities)

  • Own and deliver the technical vision, engineering roadmap, and product strategy.
  • Collaborate with executives and stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility of new product concepts.
  • Lead the development, testing, and prototyping of innovative new products.
  • Support legacy product improvements and provide technical leadership across production activities.
  • Oversee system architecture, technical design, scalability, and performance optimisation.
  • Drive best-in-class engineering practices, DFM/DFA principles, and quality compliance.
  • Support technical sales activities, including customer meetings, quotations, and product specifications.
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and emerging technology adoption.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing engineering team, promoting collaboration.

Profile / What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

  • 10+ years' experience in product and mechanical design, ideally within electro-mechanical engineering.
  • Proven leadership in product development and technical strategy.
  • Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks) and ability to create technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles and experience with tolerance drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across hardware and electronics.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach with a "can do, will do" mindset.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to influence at SLT level.
  • Based in Cardiff (hybrid: 3 days in office, typically Tues-Thurs).

Location: Cardiff-based hybrid working arrangement as described above.
