Overview

Head of Product Governance at Coventry Building Society. The role requires strategic influence and high-level decision-making to shape critical initiatives across the combined Group.

Responsibilities

  • Chair the product change committee and collaborate with Heads of to align planning, governance and change initiatives.
  • Regulatory reporting and insight (e.g., Consumer Duty reporting) and first line product risk monitoring.
  • Chair the product prioritisation forum—ensure teams work on the right initiatives with solid business cases and clear dependencies and trade-offs.
  • Manage the 5-year roadmap of product change contributing to the long-term strategic plan (3–5 years), OKRs, team goals, and target operating model.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Proven leadership experience in a senior-level governance or planning role in financial services
  • Expertise in first line risk management, and regulatory reporting including Consumer Duty
  • Adept at producing high-level outputs and coordinating stakeholder engagement across multiple teams
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills, translating complex challenges into actionable insights
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities with a track record of cross-functional collaboration and influencing
  • Experience operating in a fast-paced, changing environment with multiple high-priority demands
  • Adept at managing relationships, securing stakeholder buy-in, and driving alignment across diverse teams

Desirable

  • Leadership experience in a product, finance or strategy role
  • Evidence of leading through an integration
  • Experience navigating shifting priorities and evolving market conditions in a dual organisational setting

Location

This role can operate from either the Head Office campus in Binley, Coventry or the Manchester office; travel to both locations will be required. A team-led hybrid working arrangement is in place.
