Overview

Head of Programmes for S2076 Inboard Processing (IBP) – Thales, based in Cheadle, United Kingdom. Hybrid working: 3 days in the office weekly.

Location: Cheadle, United Kingdom. Thales provides defence mission systems solutions across land, sea and air, including sonar and related capabilities. The role leads the S2076 IBP portfolio within UWS for Inboard Processing and supports the S2076 programme across multiple customer programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of S2076 IBP capability releases into programmes within a PCT envelope.
  • Provide strategic direction across campaigns and bids aligned to Sonar 2076 Product Roadmaps to maximise synergies and Thales order intake and footprint growth.
  • Establish the S2076 IBP Portfolio vision/strategy.
  • Ensure the health, safety and general wellbeing of all team members (directly or matrix managed) is prioritised.
  • Lead the process of structuring and planning complex projects and the tailored deployment of project controls.
  • Direct project activities with reference to baseline and critical path, focusing on proactive risk and opportunity management and controlling variance to time/cost/quality.
  • Collaborate across functional boundaries to achieve alignment and support for project objectives.

Security clearance

This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held; otherwise, the successful applicant will need to undergo, achieve and maintain SC clearance prior to commencing employment. For guidance, refer to the UK Security Vetting framework. Generally, UK residency of the last 5 years is required; in some cases, 3 years may be acceptable with additional checks.

About you

  • Proven track record of delivering successful projects or a portfolio of projects in a complex, multi-site environment.
  • Experience of leading teams (direct reports up to 5, matrix up to 50) with responsibility for discipline, objectives and development coaching.
  • Experience delivering software programmes at pace is highly advantageous.
  • Experience managing customer and supplier relationships.
  • Ability to structure and plan complex projects and deploy best-practice project controls.
  • Strong focus on risk and opportunity management, and scheduling to baseline.
  • Ability to align across functional boundaries and support project objectives.
  • Demand/forecasting of resources and close collaboration with adjacent functions to schedule critical skills.
