Head of Public Relations opportunity at THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION. We’re seeking a dynamic leader to shape and deliver campaigns that matter, tell powerful stories, protect a respected reputation, and lead a talented team in a charity context. This is more than a press office role; it’s about influencing the national conversation and helping the organisation connect with audiences in meaningful ways.

Role: Head of Public Relations

Location: London, Haig House (Hybrid 2 days per week)

Contract Type: Permanent, full time

Hours: 35 Hours per week

Salary: £65,614 to £70,711 per annum (Inclusive of London Supplement)

Closing Date: 5th October 2025.

Interview Date(s): First stage – W/C 13th October; Second Stage – W/C 20th October; Final Stage – TBC.

You will be contracted to our London hub, Haig House with a minimum expectation of two days per week in person at the hub and flexibility for working remotely/at home when not on site.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on public relations and national campaigns, shaping how the organisation’s story is told and ensuring it resonates with diverse audiences.
  • Provide trusted advice at the highest level, respond quickly to emerging issues, and manage a fast-paced PR environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders, journalists and external partners; lead a skilled and ambitious team.
  • Develop and deliver campaigns that align with the organisation’s strategy and objectives, including large-scale national events and moments involving well-known figures and high-profile supporters.
  • Protect and enhance the charity’s reputation and ensure consistent messaging across channels.
  • Shape the organisation’s narrative to ensure it remains relevant, visible, and impactful on the national stage.
