Head of Public Sector Customers

Wave is a leading national water retailer serving over 300,000 customers across the UK. We are looking for a dynamic leader to drive growth and service excellence for our public sector portfolio.

Role Overview

Head of Public Sector Customers (37 hours per week, Permanent)
Location: Home based with travel to Wave offices in Durham or Pearl House, Peterborough and national customer sites
Salary: from £68,227pa plus discretionary bonus potential up to 12% of annual salary
Reporting to: I&C Customer Director
Car Allowance: £418pm

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, inspire and manage a high-performing team of Account Managers and Business Development professionals.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to grow and retain the public sector customer base.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and represent Wave at industry events.
• Collaborate cross‑departmentally to improve service delivery and customer experience.
• Oversee key frameworks and contracts, ensuring Wave remains the trusted partner of choice.
• Drive innovation in customer engagement and influence procurement decisions.
• Coach, coach and engage teams through regular check‑ins and development activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience managing hybrid teams and delivering commercial success.
• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to influence at all levels.
• Deep understanding of public sector dynamics and procurement processes.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience with CRM systems and keen eye for data and detail.
