As the Head of Risk, Fraud & AML (HoRFA) for the UK and Ireland markets, you will lead a dynamic and collaborative team dedicated to driving compliance excellence and Optimising risk and fraud to protect the business, while enhancing the customer experience. This position is an opportunity to lead and develop a large, high performing, multi‑discipline team across multiple locations, coaching and developing leaders and driving strong culture and engagement. You will define and drive strategic priorities, support product and process development, including automation, while enhancing the customer experience. In this role, you'll work on impactful projects, from creating a strategic and operational roadmap in collaboration with the UK&I Operations Director. You'll partner with stakeholders across various departments, including Compliance/AML Governance, and the Product, Tech and Data teams, ensuring seamless communication and alignment. Responsibilities

  • Lead the risk, fraud & payment (RFP) and AML teams, managing team leaders to drive performance.
  • Encourage a strong team culture of continuous learning, development, skill enhancement and career growth.
  • Lead the development of RFP and AML strategic priorities, objectives and deliverables, taking full ownership of execution.
  • Support the Ops Director and leadership team with wider UK operational strategy development.
  • Drive a culture of compliance within the RFP and AML teams and across wider UK Ops.
  • Work with the Ops Director, Head of Compliance and MLRO to ensure regulatory requirements and AML/CTF legislation are adhered to and upcoming changes are implemented.
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders and departments in the organisation, as well as service providers, to achieve collective goals and deliver on strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement throughout teams and processes with a particular focus on automation.
  • Support product and tech teams to identify, implement and maintain the most effective and cost efficient tools for RFP and AML, such as fraud monitoring and open banking tools.
  • Use data analytics to improve performance reporting and drive data‑driven decision making.
  • Lead budget planning for the RFP and AML teams, ensuring resource allocation aligns with strategic priorities.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends, financial crime and AML risks, and regulatory changes, ensuring proactive adaptation of strategy and focus areas.

Qualifications

  • Significant leadership experience in AML, Fraud, Risk and/or Payments within the online gambling, fintech, or financial services sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of AML and fraud regulatory and legislative requirements and financial crime frameworks.
  • Proven track record of defining and executing compliance/risk strategies in a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams, coach leaders, and foster a culture of growth and accountability.
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience with data‑driven decision making.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to balance compliance obligations with delivering a strong customer experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with UK Gambling Commission requirements.
  • Hands‑on experience with AML/fraud monitoring tools, case management systems, and data analytics platforms (e.g., SEON, Tableau, JIRA, Zendesk).
  • Experience implementing new technologies & process optimisation within AML & Fraud environments.
